According to rumours, Xiaomi’s next flagship, the Xiaomi 16, will differ significantly from its predecessors. It favours a bigger screen and a thinner chassis by forgoing its small form factor.
According to leaks from trustworthy source Smart Pikachu, the regular Xiaomi 16 will forgo the 6.36-inch screen size. Xiaomi 16 is in favour of a bigger display, maybe between 6.5 and 6.67 inches. According to earlier rumours, larger screens are also anticipated for the forthcoming Redmi Turbo 4 Pro and Redmi K80 Ultra.
According to reports, the switch to a bigger display is intended to achieve a smaller design. This might be influenced by the Galaxy S25 Edge, which has not yet been announced. Also, phones with comparable designs from Xiaomi’s Chinese rivals.
Reports state that the company’s increased surface area allows it to utilize a slimmer battery without sacrificing capacity. The bigger size also benefits from its capacity to accommodate a “horizontally expanded” telephoto camera. The standard model now has a 2.6x (60mm) telephoto, but if there is enough room inside, upgrading to a more sophisticated telephoto could be simpler.
Recent improvements in battery energy density have decreased the amount of internal space needed for a given battery capacity; however, image hardware has not yet seen a comparable advancement.
