Galaxy phone fans have long awaited One UI 7.0. Last year, Samsung took a long time to roll out the Android 15-based update to its flagship phones. Due to One UI 7’s delay, Samsung is reportedly skipping intermediate updates to jump directly to One UI 8.0.

Ice Universe recently claimed that One UI 8.0 will be the next update after One UI 7.0. One UI 7.1 and 7.1.1 were previously rumored for 2025. Due to the convoluted development situation, One UI 7 development plans have changed.

One UI 7 has delayed intermediate updates for some time, so this isn’t the first time we’ve heard about them being canceled. The possibility was teased in a recent report. Samsung may replace One UI 7.1 with One UI 7.0.1. Samsung may have released this OTA with the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7. According to the latest report, there will be no intermediate update. Samsung’s next foldable phones may come with One UI 7.0 or 8.0 out of the box.

Samsung’s decision could have been influenced by various factors. It may have experienced problems during the development of One UI 7.0. Google may release Android 16 earlier than expected. The rollout of One UI 7.0, development of One UI 7.1/7.0.1, and Android 16-based One UI 8.0 updates could eventually put the company in “development hell.”
