Samsung has recently been criticized for its lengthy delay in releasing One UI 7.0 for older Galaxy phones. However, with One UI 8.0, which runs on Android 16, things might not be as bad.

Samsung’s One UI 7.0 update has already been delayed by four months, so many were worried it might also be delayed. However, according to reliable tipster Ice Universe (@UniverseIce), One UI 8.0 is expected to be released sooner than previously anticipated.

One UI 8.0 might not be delayed after Android 16 is released after Google releases the stable version of the OS, though the tipster didn’t specify the exact date. Google will likely release Android 16 in late Q2 2025, and Samsung might release One UI 8.0 sometime in Q3 2025.

Samsung should not introduce last-minute delays if this information remains true.

In Android 16, there is a centralized photo picker for all apps, Health Records, Bluetooth LE Audio audio sharing, edge-to-edge apps for all screen sizes, vertical text support, better apps on foldable phones, and Samsung’s Advanced Professional Video (APV) codec.
