Google is gearing up for its annual developer conference, scheduled for May 20-21. The event will occur at the Shoreline Amphitheater in Mountain View, California, with the kickoff set for 10AM PT (5PM UTC). Google CEO Sundar Pichai will deliver the opening keynote, setting the stage for developer-focused and technical sessions.
Google has confirmed that the main keynotes and sessions from I/O 2025 will be live-streamed. A creative Prism Shift puzzle game also revealed this year’s I/O dates.
Google I/O is more than just a developer conference. It has historically been the platform for unveiling the latest Android versions and new hardware devices. Last year’s event featured over 100 announcements, including the Gemini 1.5 models, the Imagen 3 image generation model, the Project Astra AI assistant, and more.
This year’s I/O seems poised to focus on AI, with teasers highlighting updates on the open-source Gemma AI models, Google AI Studio, and NotebookLM. We can also expect an update on Android 16, which is currently in its public beta phase and expected to be stable in March. The official OTA release of Android 16 is rumoured to drop on June 3.
Google has a tradition of teasing new hardware devices at I/O, so a sneak peek at the upcoming Pixel 10 series wouldn’t be surprising.
