Vivo is set to continue its biannual release pattern for the V-series with the upcoming introduction of the Vivo V50 in India. Following the launch of the Vivo V40 and V40 Pro in August 2024, the brand is now preparing to debut the next iteration in its popular series. However, according to recent leaks, there will be a slight shift in the launch strategy this time around.

Launch Schedule and Variants

Tipster Abhishek Yadav has indicated that while the Vivo V50 is scheduled for a February release in India, the V50 Pro variant might face a delay. Unlike previous launches where Vivo introduced the standard and Pro models simultaneously, the V50 might initially launch solo, with the Pro variant possibly debuting later.

Vivo V50 Specifications

The Vivo V50 is rumoured to be equipped with the Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 chip and will be available in multiple configurations: 8GB RAM with 128GB storage, 8GB RAM with 256GB storage, and a high-end option with 12GB RAM and 256GB storage. The device is expected to be offered in a variety of colours, including blue, rose, red, and grey.

Potential Rebranding from Vivo S20

Speculations suggest that the Vivo V50 could be a rebranded or slightly modified version of the Vivo S20, which was launched in December 2024 in China. The Vivo S20 features a 6.67-inch 120Hz AMOLED display with 1.5K resolution and is powered by the same Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 chipset. It includes up to 16GB of LPDDR5 RAM and 512GB of UFS 2.2 storage.

Camera and Battery Specifications

The Vivo S20, and potentially the V50 by extension, boasts impressive camera capabilities with a 50-megapixel front camera that supports autofocus and a dual rear camera setup featuring a 50-megapixel primary sensor with OIS and an 8-megapixel ultra-wide lens. The device also includes a robust 6,500mAh battery complemented by 90W fast charging, promising extended usage and rapid recharge times.

International Availability

In addition to its anticipated release in India, the Vivo V50 has also received certifications in other markets, including Malaysia and Taiwan, indicating a broader international rollout.

As Vivo prepares to expand its V-series lineup, the V50 is poised to attract considerable attention, particularly among users looking for advanced features in a mid-range smartphone. The delay of the V50 Pro could be a strategic decision, possibly to stagger releases or refine the model further before launch. Fans of the brand and potential buyers should stay tuned for official announcements and more detailed specifications as the launch date approaches.
