According to a new report, Apple is likely to include high refresh rate displays in all models of its upcoming iPhone 17 series. Due to premium smartphones’ display being capped at 60Hz, this feature has only been available on Pro models since 2021. Samsung and LG are likely to supply LTPO (low-temperature polycrystalline oxide) displays for the upcoming iPhones, which is consistent with a recent report.

ET News reported citing an industry source that the iPhone 17 models, set to launch next year, will have LTPO screens, suggesting 120Hz refresh rates. Apple is expected to introduce a ‘slim’ model, replacing the Plus model, along with iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Pro, and iPhone 17 Pro Max, all featuring LTPO panels.

LTPO OLED technology was used only on the Pro and Pro Max models in earlier iPhones, including this year’s iPhone 16s, because it consumes less power than standard LTPS OLED technology. OLED screens will likely be supplied by South Korean companies, such as Samsung Display and LG Display, according to a report.

Samsung Display will produce panels for all iPhone 17 models, while LG Display will produce panels for the iPhone 17 Slim, iPhone 17 Pro, and iPhone 17 Pro Max. For iPhones, Samsung Display and LG Display have provided all LTPO screens. Additionally, Apple has sourced OLEDs from Chinese display companies. However, it has only given them LTPS panels.
