New larger screens are being added to Samsung’s 2025 foldables. Ross Young, a consultant within the display supply chain industry, provided the information.
According to the source, the Galaxy Z Fold7 will have an 8″ foldable screen and a 6.5″ cover panel. Also up for increase is the Galaxy Z Flip7, which will now have a 6.85″ foldable display (up from 6.7″) and a 4″ cover (up from 3.4″).
According to the analysis, Samsung saw slower-than-expected sales of the Flip6 during Q3 2024. Due to weak sales in the United States and China, panel shipments are 10% lower than last year. Flip remains popular in Europe and Korea, however.
As a result of the upcoming release of its new phones later in the year, Huawei also ordered fewer panels for its foldable phones between July and September. It was launched in China last week and will be available worldwide on December 12.
In 2025, the foldable panel market might slow down, but this isn’t necessarily a bad thing. Apple’s first foldable smartphone will generate “significant growth” for the foldable market in 2026. Thus, the segment is expected to break records throughout the year.
