OnePlus introduced the performance-driven OnePlus Ace 3 in January this year and has since been rumoured to be working on its next model. OnePlus China President Li Jie has now officially announced that the upcoming series will be named OnePlus Ace 5, bypassing the number 4. He emphasized that this new model will offer a substantial performance increase, positioning it as “almost a generation ahead” of its competition, in line with the brand’s naming convention.
The recent confirmation has put an end to online speculation regarding the naming convention of the new series, affirming that the traditional sequential naming will continue. Li Jie, in the announcement, revealed an exciting detail: performance test data shown by an engineer indicated that the Ace 5 series could offer unprecedented capabilities.
The OnePlus Ace 5 series is slated for a December launch, with the standard Ace 5 equipped with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor, while the Ace 5 Pro will boast the Snapdragon 8 Elite.
In terms of design, the OnePlus Ace 5 will sport a straight screen with a camera module rounded in the upper-left corner, maintaining the clean and striking design language of previous models.
