Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold line reached a plateau with minor updates that left it behind the Chinese foldable. The Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition was just announced in South Korea. It has a 200MP main camera and a bigger display than the Z Fold6.
Specs:
The Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition will sport the new two Dynamic AMOLED 2X displays of 8.0 inches with a 120Hz refresh rate & HDR10+. It comes with Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2 on top and there is a secondary 6.5-inch HD+ Dynamic AMOLED display 2x. There is an Armor Aluminium frame.
Samsung does not mention the rumoured switch to Ultra Flexible Glass (UFG), an updated version of Ultra-Thin Glass (UTG), for the foldable panel. When unfolded, the Special Edition Z Fold measures just 4.9 mm and when folded, it measures 10.6 mm. It weighs 236 grams, 3g less than the Z Fold6 proper. To achieve this slender profile, the new Special Edition cannot support S Pens.
Samsung Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition comes with Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC. The device is coupled with 16GB RAM and 512GB internal storage space. It comes with triple rear cameras featuring 200MP with OIS, 2PD, 10MP telephoto lens with f/2.4, OIS, with 3x optical zoom and 12MP ultra-wide sensor with 123-degrees FoV, f/2.2 aperture with LED flash.
There is a new 4MP selfie camera on the internal display with an f/1.8 aperture. There is a 10MP selfie camera on the external display with an f/2.2 aperture. The Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition is also certified with an IP48 rating making it dust and water-resistant.
The connectivity option includes a Single SIM with 4G LTE and VoLTE support, 5G, NFC, A-GPS, GLONASS, NaVIC, USB Type-C, Wifi-6, and Bluetooth 5.3. There is a side-mounted fingerprint scanner. The device runs on Android 14 with One UI 6.1.1 on top.
The Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition ships with a 4400 mAh battery with 25W fast charging support and 15W wireless charging. The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition comes in Black Shadow.

In South Korea, the price is set at KRW 2,789,600, which is equivalent to $2,028/€1,868.
