Samsung France posted a press release calling the Galaxy A16 and Galaxy A16 5G “smartphones that stand the test of time” when it announced the Galaxy A16 5G a couple of weeks ago. Both models will be supported for 6 years, including OS updates and security patches.
Galaxy A16:
The new Galaxy A16 sports a 6.7-inch FHD+ AMOLED display with a 90Hz refresh rate. The notch houses a 13MP selfie shooter with an aperture of f/2.0. On the back, the Galaxy A16 features triple rear cameras: a 50MP main shooter with an f/1.8 aperture, a 5MP ultra-wide and a 2MP depth sensor with an aperture of f/2.4 and LED flash.
The Galaxy A16 is powered by MediaTek’s old Helio G99 SoC. The device is coupled with 4GB/6GB RAM and 64GB/128GB internal storage. It also comes with a dedicated microSD card slot. All this is packed with a 5000 mAh battery with 25W fast charging support. It supports dual-band AC WiFi, NFC, and Bluetooth 5.3, as well as two stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos support.
It runs on Android 14 with One UI 6.1.1 on top. Further, the device also features a fingerprint scanner on the side. Six major Android updates and six years of security patch support stood out to us most.
This time the Galaxy A16 is also IP54 rated making it water-resistant. It measures 164.4 x 77.9 x 7.9mm and weighs around 200 grams, depending on the model. The phone will come in Gray, Green and Blue.
