After a long wait, Android 15 is finally available for download. Android 15 has just been released to Google’s Pixel devices. Updates are rolling out to the Pixel 6 series and higher, Pixel 6a and higher, Pixel Fold and newer, and Pixel Tablet.
Today, Google rolled out updates to Pixel 6, Pixel 6 Pro, Pixel 6a, Pixel 7, Pixel 7 Pro, Pixel 7a, Pixel 8, Pixel 8 Pro, Pixel 8a, Pixel Fold, Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro, Pixel 9 Pro XL, Pixel 9 Pro Fold and the Pixel Tablet.
Android 15 introduces several notable features, including improvements to privacy and security. With Privacy Space, Google finally follows OEMs by letting you hide sensitive apps. With this feature, you can hide specific apps from your phone’s app list, notifications, and more. If you wish to access Privacy Space, you must authenticate again.
Android 15 provides additional protections, including a Theft Detection Lock. You must authenticate before removing your SIM or disabling Find My Device.
Additionally, Android 15 features tablet- and foldable-specific features, such as app pair functionality and easier taskbar pinning. You can pin or make the taskbar transient with this feature.
We’re particularly excited about app pairing since Microsoft and Samsung have long offered it on their foldables. Split-screen app combos can be saved to the home screen for easier launching. Using WhatsApp and YouTube in split-screen mode is convenient if you frequently do so.
Additionally, Google mentioned enabling carrier messaging apps to send and receive texts via satellite and enabling one-tap log-in for apps that use passkeys.
