Today vivo announced OriginOS 5, the new version of its OS that is based on the latest Android version (mid-October is the official release date).

Responsive UI:

From 15% faster application startup to 30% faster app switching time, it promises to reduce CPU power consumption by 26%. As part of the new system, GPU and RAM resources are intelligently allocated so that the foreground app runs as smoothly as possible.

With OriginOS 5, you can add controls and widgets to the lock screen. Additionally, the company updated the design language of the user interface to be more consistent.

AI Features:

This update is highlighted by AI, which shouldn’t surprise you. All of this revolves around the “Blue Heart Little V assistant”. With its version of “circle to search”, vivo presents Little V with search results and recommendations based on what you circled.

With virtual clipboards, you can store photos, videos, articles, links, etc. To preserve important moments, Little V organizes those into “memory fragments” based on your activities and travels.

Your personal photos and videos will be organized into highlight reels, complete with music and lyrics that correspond to the mood of the reel.

A new Dynamic Island-style UI pops up when you copy content – the context-sensitive AI will automatically associate that content with relevant activities. Add more by dragging and dropping.

The cards will dynamically refresh based on the time and location to offer relevant information. With the unified Settings page, you can manage all of these smart features.

You can write and rewrite messages with Little V. In addition, it can handle calls for you in several languages – when the call is over, Atom Notes will provide a summary.

In addition to interpreting sign language, it can communicate using a virtual human avatar. Visually impaired users can also benefit from Little V’s services.

As it connects to the infotainment system in your car, Little V can also function as a navigator. You can use it to answer calls and send messages. It can handle the call all by itself and just give you a summary. It can also answer questions about the messages you’ve received.

Smart Home Features:

As part of OriginOS 5, the Matter protocol will be supported, enabling your smart home to be orchestrated. You will be able to check the status of and control smart gadgets like air conditioners and lights by pulling down the control centre.

Lastly, Little V is available for Windows, Mac, and as an online version, allowing you to seamlessly switch from phone to computer usage.
