On Oct. 24, Oppo will launch its Find X8 series of flagship smartphones in China. Additionally, the brand confirmed that the series will be powered by the all-new Dimensity 9400 SoC. Based on TSMC’s second-generation 3nm process technology.

The Oppo Find X8 series will include several models, such as the Oppo Find X8, Find X8 Pro, and Find X8 Pro Satellite Communication Version. Also included in the lineup is the Find X8 Ultra, which is expected to feature the Snapdragon 8 Elite chip. It is likely that the Ultra model will launch in January 2025.

New display feature:

The Oppo Find X8 series is claimed to be the first to receive the Rheinland Intelligent Eye Protection 4.0 certification.

In AMOLED displays, brightness is typically adjusted via PWM (Pulse Width Modulation). The brightness is controlled by rapidly turning on and off the pixels. At lower brightness levels, this causes a flickering effect, which can cause eye strain for some people.

The company official said Oppo has addressed this issue with their upcoming flagships by integrating a new “light-out eye protection” technology.

Another solution to eye strain is to increase the PWM frequency. Up to 3840Hz PWM frequency is supported by upcoming flagships. Videos show black bars moving across the display as brightness is reduced, their width increasing as the brightness decreases. Due to the higher PWM frequency, Yibao claims that the Find X8’s black bar width is only 1/6th of its predecessor’s.

Specs:

In leaked images, the Find X8 series will retain its round camera module. Unlike the standard model, the Pro model is expected to have a triple camera setup with a single periscope lens compared to the triple camera setup in the standard model. There will also be a Camera Control button similar to that on the iPhone 16 series.

There will be a micro-quad-curved OLED display on the front of the Find X8 series. The entire lineup supports 50W magnetic wireless charging and runs ColorOS 15-based Android 15. A feature called BeaconLink is also expected to be available on the Find X8 models, just as it is on the Reno 12 series.
