Dimensity 9400 is Mediatek’s flagship chipset, featuring a powerful CPU and improved graphics. It also features on-device AI, a new NPU, enhanced power efficiency, and all the latest technology.
TSMC built the SoC on the 3 nm (N3E), enhancing performance and efficiency.
It consists of a 1+3+4 CPU architecture. There are three Cortex-X4 units with a maximum frequency of 3.3 GHz, alongside the super-performance Cortex-X925 which runs at 3.63 GHz. The system also features four Cortex-A720 2.4 GHz units for efficiency.
Mediatek claims the Dimensity 9400 can run 35% faster on single cores and 28% faster on multiple cores, thanks to the 15% increase in IPC (Instructions per Cycle).
This GPU is Immortalis-G925, which was announced earlier this year. With a frequency of 1612 MHz, it promises 41% performance improvements, 40% faster ray tracing performance, and 44% power savings.
An NPU 890 handles the AI, which should consume 35% less energy than its predecessor. With AI features, the chip can correct images for crisp, clear photos, zoom 100x for remarkable detail, and capture 4K video at 60 frames per second with greater power efficiency.
Using the Imagiq 1090 ISP, HDR video capture should be possible across the entire zoom range, so you can switch lenses and zoom levels without affecting video quality.
It is the first chipset on the market to support LPDDR5X memory with a speed of 10.7 GB per second. There is also a 100% increase in the L2 cache and a 50% increase in the L3 cache.
OEMs are already receiving Dimensity 9400 chips from MediaTek. This month, the flagship platform will be seen in the Oppo Find X8 and the vivo X200 series.
