OEMs are preparing their versions based on Android 15 source code, which has already been released, and a stable version is on its way. OnePlus’ OxygenOS 15 is one of them. It is rumoured to bring some major changes. Smartprix got the chance to check out OxygenOS 15, which is in beta testing phase.
Due to legal implications, screenshots of OxygenOS 15 are not allowed, but here are the changes:
Control Centre:
With OxygenOS 15, the control centre will undergo a major overhaul. The Smartprix report notes that the layout has been tweaked from OxygenOS 14. The interface is similar to that of iOS and HyperOS.
Like HyperOS, there are two toggles at the top, and below that, a 2×2 media player, 1×2 brightness slider, and 1×2 volume panel. In the control centre, there are 1×1 toggles for other quick settings. It is possible to edit the layout as per one’s liking and to hide or unhide text under the controls as well.
If you still want the old control centre, OxygenOS 15 allows you to switch back to OxygenOS 14 style by swiping down from the right.
Volume Panel:
Similarly to iOS, the volume slider starts as a large slider, but narrows down as you press it again.
Live Photos:
Live photos will be available in the camera app like on iOS. It allows you to take short video clips when you take a photo or if something is moving.
Lock Screen Customization:
The lock screen can be customized in OxygenOS 15. The clock can be resized, positioned, coloured, and a different font can be used. A new depth effect allows the creation of a 3D lock screen. There will also be a variety of lock screen presents available in the UI.
Dynamic Island:
A dynamic island-like feature will also be available in OxygenOS 15. As with Apple’s Dynamic Island, this now sits on top of the centre punch-hole cutout.
The Never Settle logo Easter egg will be included in OxygenOS 15. If you type 1+ into the calculator and tap equals, you will see the ‘Never Settle’ pop-up again.
Beta versions of OxygenOS 15 should be available by the end of this month or early next month, but only for select models.
