The Huawei Mate XT Ultimate Design is the world’s first commercially available phone with a tri-folding display, following teasers.

Design & Display:

With its chameleon-like screen, the Mate XT adapts to your needs. When closed, the phone is a fairly standard 6.4-inch FHD+ device. By folding it halfway, you’ll get a 7.9-inch 2K screen, ideal for watching videos or checking emails. When you fully unfold the beast, a tablet-sized 10.2-inch 3K display unfolds for an experience similar to a desktop.

When fully opened, the phone measures 3.6mm thick, while folded, it measures 12.8mm thick. Just slightly thicker than the Z Fold 6’s 12.1mm body. Huawei claims that the tri-fold design is 25% stronger than other foldables, but real-world testing will be crucial to see how durable it is.

Specs:

Even though Huawei hasn’t revealed the processor yet, some rumours suggest it could be the Kirin 9000 chip that we’ve seen on the Pura 70 series.

It is a capable camera system. The camera has a 50MP main sensor with a variable aperture (f/1.4 to f/4.0) paired with 12MP ultrawide and 12MP periscope telephoto lenses. It has an 8MP front-facing camera for taking selfies and making video calls.

The Huawei Mate XT has a fairly large battery despite the complex hinge design and tri-fold structure. With a 5600mAh silicon carbon battery 66W wired fast charging and 50W wireless fast charging, it claims to be the world’s thinnest smartphone.

Huawei also introduced a foldable touch keyboard that pairs with the Mate XT for a desktop-like experience. For productivity enthusiasts, it can be a useful accessory.

Pricing:

With a 16GB+256GB model priced at 1,99.99 yuan (roughly USD 2808 / Rs. 2,35,910), the Huawei Mate XT Ultimate Design is available in both Black and Red.

It costs 2,19,99 yuan (approximately USD 3089 / Rs. 2,59,500) for the 16GB+512GB model and 2,39,99 yuan (approximately USD 3370 / Rs. 2,83,095) for the 16GB+1TB model. The device is already available for pre-order, and sales will begin on September 20th in China.
