Apple has also launched an all-new iPhone 16 Pro lineup this year. Finally, the new iPhone 16 Pro series will arrive with new colours along with a new Camera Control button. So let’s start with the most powerful iPhone ever.

Apple iPhone 16 Pro & iPhone 16 Pro Max:

Display & Design:

 

Apple’s top-end iPhone 16 Pro & iPhone 16 Pro Max. The new iPhone 16 Pro will sport a larger 6.3-inch OLED display whereas the iPhone 16 Pro Max with a larger 6.9 inches OLED display. Both of them come with a pill-shaped notch over the top carrying the Face ID. It arrives in Black Titanium, White Titanium, Desert Titanium, and Natural Titanium.

 

The new iPhone 16 Pro & iPhone 16 Pro Max will come with a new Super Retina XDR display along with a resolution of 2796*1290p (iPhone 14 Pro Max) & 2556*1179p (iPhone 14 Pro) & new protection on top with Corning’s latest Victus glass. It comes with a ProMotion display with a 120Hz refresh rate.

The new notch feature which takes the space between the pill is called Dynamic Island. This space is been now utilized to show notifications like Music players, Navigation, Messages, or any app that uses GPS for almost everything. Also features Always On Display to get the latest update without even touching the screen.

It features a Titanium metal chassis and comes with a glass back. Both phones do come with an IP68 rating making them dust and water-resistant. The new iPhones are 8.25mm thick and weigh a few grams more than their predecessors.

Camera Control Button:

The iPhone 16 line also introduces a Camera Control Button. It is located just a few inches below the power button on the right side of the iPhone 16 Pro Max and iPhone 16 Pro.

With Camera Control, you can quickly focus and take a photo or video, as well as zoom in and out by swiping the button left and right.

There are many functions you can perform with the Camera Control button, including opening the camera or another app, adjusting focus, taking a photo, recording a video, adjusting zoom, and adjusting exposure.

Processor:

The new iPhone 16 Pro & iPhone 16 Pro Max comes powered by the world’s fastest Apple A18 Pro SoC. The new Apple A18 Pro is built on the 2nd Gen TSMC 3nm process that gives a great performance. It has a six-core CPU with two performance cores and four efficiency cores, which is 15% faster than the A17 Pro, consumes 20% less power than the A17 Pro, and has ML accelerators which are the fastest of their kind.

A 16-core neural engine can perform 35 trillion operations per second, making it more efficient and faster, as well as increasing memory bandwidth by 17%. Apple Intelligence features run 15% faster than A17 Pro.

The 6-core GPU delivers 20% faster performance and 2x faster ray tracing compared to the A17 Pro GPU

Cameras:

The iPhone 16 Pro & iPhone 16 Pro Max will come with triple rear cameras with the main sensor, ultra-wide sensor & telephoto lens with LED flash. It also includes the LiDAR sensor from the iPad Pro which will improve Auto Focus in low light. iPhone 16 Pro & Pro Max features a quad-pixel 48MP Wide main sensor with f/1.78 aperture, 24mm and a 12MP ultra-wide sensor with f/2.2 aperture, 120-degrees FOV, 13mm focal length, Dual OIS along with 12MP f/1.78 aperture telephoto lens with 2x zoom.

 

The iPhone 16 Pro and the iPhone 16 Pro Max feature a 12MP (f/2.8) telephoto lens with 120mm with 5x optical zoom, OIS, 3D sensor‑shift optical image stabilisation and autofocus, and tetraprism design. The device will also get Deep Fusion, Smart HDR 4, and improved Night Mode. It will also support Dolby Vision HDR video recording capabilities.

As Apple puts it, the Pro models will also get more advanced and customizable Photography Styles, which are comparable to “real-time color grading”. With iPhone 16 Pro and 16 Pro Max, you can now create slow-motion videos in 4K@120fps. In the Photos app, you can change the playback speed in post.

Also coming to the new iPhones are Spatial Audio Capture and a new Audio Mix. You can adjust the audio mixing with the new Audio Mix feature. There will be two options available to you

Both iPhones ship with 12MP f/2.2 aperture selfie cameras with FaceID support.

Apple Intelligence:

New features in Apple Intelligence include Writing Tools, email notifications, a Clean Up tool for removing unwanted objects from your photos, intelligent image search in Photos, a digital image creation tool, generative emoji, a visually redesigned Siri, and more. For a supercharged AI experience, Open AI’s ChatGPT is seamlessly integrated into Siri and Writing Tools.

In terms of Apple Intelligence, it will be available with iOS 18.1 – though some features, like the revamped Siri assistant, will not be available until early 2025.

Connectivity & Battery:

Both the devices will come with Magsafe charging aka 15W wireless charging support. The iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max will boast 5G connectivity exclusive to US models & will support the faster mmWave standard. Apple will introduce Smart Data Mode which toggles between 4G and 5G based on app bandwidth to increase the battery life.

 

The connectivity options include Wifi-7, A-GPS, GLONASS, NFC, Bluetooth 5.3, USB Type-C, and Dual SIM with 5G support. It will also come with a new U2 UWB SoC. Apple will not include the charger and earphones along with the new iPhone 15 series.  It comes with 25W fast charge support. It runs on iOS 18 out of the box. The device also comes with Emergency SOS via satellite.

Pricing:

The new iPhone 16 Pro price starts at $999 (Rs.73,000/-) for base 256GB & $1099 (Rs.80,500/-) for iPhone 16 Pro Max with 256GB. Both devices will come in three storage options 256GB/512GB/1TB. The new iPhone 16 Pro Max & the iPhone 16 Pro will go on sale from Sept 20.

The iPhone 16 Pro starts from Rs.1,19,900 for 128GB, Rs.1,29,900 for 256GB, and 512GB at Rs.1,49,900 & 1TB at 1,69,900/-. The iPhone 16 Pro Max 256GB at 1,44,900/-, 512GB at Rs.1,64,900/- & 1TB at Rs.1,84,900/- in India.
