In July, Samsung released two foldable smartphones, the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy Z Flip 6. You might think that the company had finished releasing foldable phones by 2024, but you’d be wrong. Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition is coming this year, and we have an exclusive first look at its design.
For those who aren’t up to speed yet, the Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition is expected to be the thinner variant of the Galaxy Z Fold 6. Here’s a look at the device itself in the image below. Even though it looks like the Galaxy Z Fold 6, those with a keen eye will notice it’s thinner.
The phone still has a flat frame with slightly rounded corners for comfort. The camera island at the back still has three cameras, and they’re even in the same place as before.
Compared to the Galaxy Z Fold 6, that camera island has a slightly different shape. There is also a bit more thickness to it.
At the top of the phone’s cover display, there is a centred camera hole. Both the display and the back of the phone are flat. When the phone is unfolded, the hinge is hidden.
This model has a brushed metal finish on the backside. The finish below the glass might be different, but we aren’t 100% certain.
On the right side of the phone, the power/lock button will also double as a fingerprint scanner. There are volume up and down buttons above that power key, as one might expect.
