As IFA 2024 approaches, Samsung introduced the first entry in its Galaxy Book 5 series. It is a thin, light, AI-focused laptop with a beautiful OLED display, long battery life, and Intel’s new processors.

It’s Intel. Eventually, there may be a Snapdragon version of the Book 5, but today it’s all about the Series 2 Intel Core Ultra processors. Copilot+ PCs bring 47 TOPS of NPU power, qualifying them for the brand.

Samsung Galaxy Book 5 Pro 360 features a 16-inch OLED touchscreen with S Pen support. Due to the hinge, the screen can be rotated 360°, turning it into a Windows tablet. As for the screen, it’s a 2,880 x 1,800-pixel panel with a 120Hz refresh rate and an anti-reflective coating. By the way, the standard retail package includes an S Pen.

A 16-inch laptop weighs just 1.69kg and measures just 12.8mm thick. The battery has 76Wh and is charged by a 65W USB-C adapter. Video playback should last up to 25 hours on the battery. The quad-speaker system will also deliver Dolby Atmos sound throughout (2x 5W woofers, 2x 3.3W tweeters).

Currently, only one version uses the Intel Core Ultra 7 256V with an Intel Arc 140V GPU (8GB). It promises a 17% performance improvement over Intel’s previous GPU.

This laptop comes with 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM (soldered) and 512GB or 1TB of NVMe SSD (one slot is user-accessible).

Samsung’s Galaxy Book 5 Pro 360 has excellent connectivity options. The laptop has an HDMI 2.1 port, two Thunderbolt 4 ports, one USB-A 3.2 port, and a headphone/mic combo jack. Bluetooth 5.4 and Wi-Fi 7 (be, 2×2) are wireless options.

This laptop includes several AI features, including Circle to Search, Chat Assist, Live Translate, and Transcript Assist. “Over 300 AI-accelerated experiences across 100+ creativity, productivity, gaming, and entertainment apps” is what Samsung advertises.
