A new chipset has been introduced by Qualcomm, the Snapdragon 6 Gen 3. In a quiet announcement, the company announced a new chipset codenamed SM6475-AB. The Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 will be used to power affordable smartphones. It should also be noted that this processor is an underclocked version of the Snapdragon 7s Gen 2.
It is important to have a chipset such as Snapdragon 6 Gen 3. This chipset will allow smartphone manufacturers to offer users higher-performance devices at a lower price.
There are four performance-oriented 2.4 GHz Cortex-A78 cores and four efficiency-oriented 1.8 GHz Cortex-A55 cores in Snapdragon 6 Gen 3. The GPU in the SoC is the Adreno 710. Aside from supporting LPDDR4x and LPDDR5 RAM, this chipset also supports UFS 3.1.
In the Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 processor, there were four performance-oriented Cortex-A78 cores four efficiency-oriented Cortex-A55 cores and an Adreno 710 GPU. The 6 Gen 3 and 7s Gen 2 chipsets are very similar. In contrast, the 7s Gen 2 supports 144Hz refresh rate at FHD+ resolution, while the 6 Gen 3 does not. There are no other differences and no new features offered by Snapdragon 6 Gen 3. The same processor has been re-announced by Qualcomm under a different name.
