When it becomes official, Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold Slim, also known as Galaxy Z Fold6 Slim, Galaxy Z Fold Ultra, and Galaxy Z Fold6 Ultra, will use none of those names. It will be called Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition instead.
Evan Blass revealed this information, along with the device’s 6.5-inch outer screen and 8-inch inner display, as well as its 4.9mm unfolded and 10.6mm folded thickness.
The Honor Magic V3 is 4.35mm thick when opened and 9.2mm thick when closed, while the Xiaomi Mix Fold 4 is 4.6mm and 9.5mm thick, respectively. Even though Samsung doesn’t match either of these, it’s much closer with the Fold Special Edition than ever with a non-Special Edition Fold, including the Z Fold6.
Now for the bad news. According to previous rumours, the Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition will only be available in Korea and China. We don’t understand that either, so hopefully this won’t work out. It will be interesting to see how things turn out. It is rumoured that the Fold Special Edition will launch in Korea and China in September and October, respectively.
