In India, YouTube’s YouTube Premium subscription rates have been raised. New plans are now priced up to 50% higher. Individual, family, monthly, and annual plans will be affected by the change.
YouTube Premium’s family plan has seen the biggest increase, from Rs 189 to Rs 299. Six people can share this plan.
Student plan rates have also increased from Rs 79 to Rs 89, while individual monthly plans have gone from Rs 129 to Rs 149. You can find a detailed summary of all the YouTube Premium subscription rate changes in India here.
The new Premium subscription rates will take effect in October 2024, according to YouTube. To renew their plans under the new rates, users will receive an email confirmation. Their YouTube Premium membership will be cancelled if they do not respond to the email. After the validity of their existing plan expires, users with prepaid annual plans will have to renew their subscription at the new rates.
YouTube has raised rates in more than one region. In the United States, Google-owned streaming giant Netflix raised its subscription prices by up to 25% last year. Malaysia and other South East Asian countries also raised their rates last week.
There is no room for error when it comes to YouTube’s decisions. In addition to supporting YouTube creators, the new rates will improve the overall experience on the streaming platform.
