The Pixel 9 launch is still fresh in our minds, but a new leak of alleged Pixel 9a images gives us a glimpse of what we can expect from the new A-series devices.
We may see a minor divergence in the mainline and A-series lineup in the future based on images shared on a private Vietnamese Pixel fan Facebook group and then shared by ShrimpApplePro on X.
It’s hard to find leaks or info on the Pixel 9a. As usual with early leaks, these don’t always frame well or have the best resolution. However, if the reports are true, then the Pixel 9a’s camera bar will be flattened out or removed.
Design:
There is a glossy ring surrounding the dual camera setup, mimicking the rounded floating camera bar of the Pixel 9 series. LED flashes are off to the right and are not contained within this section. According to these leaked images, the Pixel 9a camera system might sit flush with the frame, rather than sticking out of the back. Since the Pixel 4a, the first major design hasn’t jumped to the A-series from the mainline lineup. It may be possible to save money and separate the lineup by removing the camera bar.
As expected, the Pixel 9a will also adopt the boxy design of the Pixel 9 series. It looks like the SIM tray is moving down the bottom bezel like the latest flagship lineup. While the Pixel 9 and 9 Pro display bezels are uniform on all sides, the screen edges are quite pronounced.
Besides the colour, there is nothing else that stands out. The Pixel 9a leak’s lighting makes it hard to tell, but it appears to have a matte backplate and mate side rails. The company isn’t likely to do that this time around, either.
The Pixel 9a has not yet been announced, but this is the earliest leak we’ve seen to date.
