A new feature is coming to Instagram: Song on Profile. You can add your favourite song to your profile, and visitors can click to hear it. Similar to selecting a song for Reels or Stories, you can choose a 30-second clip of your favourite song. Just below your Instagram bio, that portion will appear on your profile.
Visitors will have to click the song title to play the song; it will not start automatically. The Edit Profile option on Instagram allows users to add songs to their profiles. Until you change it, the song will remain on your profile.
To showcase this feature, Instagram has partnered with singer Sabrina Carpenter. The new song “Taste” is featured on her Instagram profile. Instagram users, personal accounts, and creator accounts can now use this feature.
Facebook has offered this feature for a long time and it works pretty much the same way. Before then, it was a staple of MySpace as well. Six months ago, Instagram removed this feature after testing it for months. People in the Instagram subreddit were disappointed.
You can add a song to your Instagram profile by following these steps:
- Go to Instagram and tap Profile.
- Click on Edit Profile.
- Click on the Add Music button.
- Choose a song from the For You list or search for the one you want.
- Make a note of the song’s timestamp and save it.
