According to rumours, Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 will have an impressive GPU. In an early AnTuTu result, the GPU score was 1,330,057, a massive increase over the 896,416 points of the top Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 result.

Ice Universe reports that the Adreno 830 is being tested at a clock frequency of 1,250MHz. As a comparison, the Adreno 750 in the 8 Gen 3 runs at 903MHz for the regular AB variant and 1,000MHz for the AC variant (usually labelled “for Galaxy” or “Leading”). In the 8s Gen 3, the Adreno 735 has fewer cores but runs at 1,100MHz.

In response to comments on Weibo, the leakster cautioned that these are still experimental runs and that final clock speeds may be different.

According to Geekbench results, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4’s two fast Oryon cores will run at up to 4.09GHz (and the six other cores at 2.78GHz). A 17 Pro chipset inside the iPhone 15 Pro has the highest CPU clock speed (3.78GHz). Dimensity 9300+ and Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 Leading (3.4GHz) are on par for Android.

Qualcomm should be the first to break through the 4GHz barrier in October. Apple’s M4 chip inside the new iPad Pros runs its big CPU cores at 4.4GHz, the highest smartphone speed.
