It was just leaked this morning, but Qualcomm has now confirmed it. As for Qualcomm’s portfolio, this 4nm chip will be right below the Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3 (which is the highest-specced in the family).
According to Qualcomm, the new chip will provide “remarkable AI experiences to more affordable smartphones”, and Samsung, Realme, and Sharp have already ordered it. The first devices powered by it will be announced “in the coming months”. In September, Xiaomi will unveil a handset that uses the Snapdragon 7s Gen 3, which will one-up them all.
In detail, the Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 will have a 20% faster CPU, 40% faster GPU, and 30% faster NPU, while reducing power consumption by 12%.
Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 offers 20% better CPU performance, 40% faster GPU, 30% better AI performance, and 12% less power consumption than Snapdragon 7s Gen 2. There is only a 45% power savings on the CPU side. Kryo CPUs have one Prime core clocked at 2.5GHz, three Performance cores clocked at 2.4GHz, and four Efficiency cores clocked at 1.8GHz. There is support for up to 16GB of RAM and UFS 3.1 storage.
With the AI Engine dedicated NPU, the chip has on-device generative AI capabilities. Additionally, it supports AI-based noise cancellation and noise reduction, as well as 200 MP photos and 4K HDR video capture. With its ultra-fast parallel processing and smooth zooming, the Spectra Triple ISP enables concurrent photo and video capture.
For games, you get Adreno HDR Fast Blend, Variable Rate Shading, and support for the Vulkan 1.3 API, as well as displays up to FHD+ and 144 Hz.
Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 supports 5G mmWave and Sub-6, SA and NSA, Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.4, GPS, Glonass, BeiDou, Galileo, QZSS, and NavIC.
