Google also unveiled some AI-related goodies today at its hardware launch event. Let’s start with Gemini Live. Gemini Advanced subscribers in English will receive this update today.

According to Google, it delivers a “free-flowing conversational experience with Gemini” on mobile. What does it do? It works like Google Assistant, but with AI branding because everything these days has to be.

During a Gemini Live conversation, you can pause and come back to a point later, so that’s better. Additionally, you can use Gemini Live hands-free, even when your phone is locked or in the background. According to the video above, Gemini Live will have ten new voices to choose from.

Google is going to release new extensions for Gemini in the coming weeks. It will now be compatible with apps such as Keep, Tasks, and Utilities, and its feature set on YouTube Music will be expanded. In the future, there will also be a Calendar extension, which will let you snap a photo of a concert flier and ask Gemini if you’re free that day, as well as set a reminder to buy tickets. Buying tickets is probably a feature for 2025 and beyond.

When you replace Google Assistant with Gemini on Android, you can ask Gemini for stuff by saying “Hey Google”. If you’re using YouTube, you can ask Gemini questions about what you’re watching by tapping on Ask about this video. You can also use Ask about this screen in other places. You can also drag and drop the images generated by Gemini right into Gmail or Google Messages.

As part of the Gemini release, Google promises to increase speed and quality, as well as deepen integrations with Google Home, Phone, and Messages.
