The Pixel 9 series will be fully unveiled at an event tomorrow, but leaks haven’t stopped yet. Google’s Pixel Buds Pro 2 will feature the first new form factor for Tensor, according to a new post.
It has already been reported that the Pixel Buds Pro 2 will be available soon. Google is preparing some new colours, will use the same case, and have a new earbud design that includes wing tips. In addition, there are reports that a September launch will be delayed and that pricing will be higher.
Google’s new earbuds haven’t been announced yet, so we don’t know what’s going on. A few tidbits about the Pixel Buds Pro 2 specs, including the introduction of Tensor Audio chips, have been provided by @MysteryLupin.
“Google’s new earbuds will be powered by Tensor A1, which will enable “twice the Active Noise Cancellation.” The first Pixel Buds Pro had some complaints about ANC strength, so it will be interesting to see how it improves. It is unclear, however, how Tensor A1 will differ from its predecessors.
The Pixel Buds Pro were also powered by a custom Google chip, but without Tensor branding.
The Pixel Buds Pro 2 are also said to “seamlessly connect with your Pixel” including phones, tablets, and watches. This likely refers to Fast Pair and its associated multi-device features that originally debuted with Buds Pro.
The battery life might be a bit shorter this time around, based on this leak. According to Google, Pixel Buds Pro 2 lasts 8 hours for the earbuds and 30 hours for the case. If this is referring to the battery life without ANC enabled, it is down from 11 hours on the buds and 31 hours on the case. In the post, no specifics are mentioned, as there are no specifics in the retail source either. When ANC is off, it’s a downgrade. With ANC on, it’s a major upgrade.
Besides the “twist to adjust” stabilizer wing, the Pixel Buds app now tracks the volume of your music.
