A major redesign of Apple’s compact PC, the Mac mini, is reportedly in the works. Over the last decade, there has never been any change to the product line. Apple could also equip this mini PC with its new M4 chipset despite its smaller form factor.

Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman reports on the next-generation Mac mini from Cupertino. According to him, Apple is making the Mac mini even smaller. Apple’s new PC could become the world’s smallest Mac mini. The form factor of this model will be similar to that of Apple TV, Gurman said. Although the device will have a smaller form factor, the hardware inside will be upgraded. There will be two configurations of the Mac mini, namely M4 and M4 Pro.

Three USB-C ports, an HDMI port, and a power cable are available for connectivity. In the M4 Pro variant, additional RAM and enhanced graphics may be available. Even though it has a smaller physical footprint, it may be slightly taller than the existing Mac mini. It measures 1.4 inches tall. Like its predecessors, the newer model will have an iconic aluminium body. Gurman described the M4 Mac mini as a “small iPad Pro.”

The Mac lineup of PCs will be refreshed with M4 chips in 2025, according to rumours. While the Mac mini, MacBook Pro and iMac could transition to these newer chips later this year. Mac minis are expected to launch in the coming months, with the high-end model possibly arriving in October. The pricing has not yet been announced. Whether the Mac mini will get a price hike in 2024 is still uncertain.
