The Chinese smartphone manufacturers were focusing on faster charging and reducing battery size until last year. As a result, manufacturers are launching phones with larger silicon batteries rather than lithium-ion batteries, and they are also offering fast charging at around 100W this year. This allows phones to maintain longer battery life and provide more efficient performance. Xiaomi is said to be planning to launch a device with a 7,500mAh battery shortly, according to a Weibo post by tipster Digital Chat Station.
Xiaomi is currently researching various fast charging solutions for their batteries, according to tipster Digital Chat Station. Multiple configurations are being considered, including a 5,500mAh battery with 100W fast charging that takes 34 minutes to fully charge, and a 5,000mAh battery with 120W fast charging.
In addition, it is considering 6,000mAh batteries with 120W fast charging that charge in 30 minutes, 6,500mAh batteries with 100W fast charging that require 49 minutes for a full charge, 7,000mAh batteries with 120W fast charging that charge in 40 minutes, and 7,500mAh batteries with 100W fast charging that charge in 63 minutes.
The upcoming Xiaomi 15 series is expected to have silicon batteries with a capacity of 6,000mAh. There is a possibility that the 15 Ultra will have a 6,200mAh battery when it launches next year.
Entry-level tablets usually have batteries of around 6,500mAh to 7,500mAh. Now that phone brands are developing silicon batteries with increased energy density, it may not be long before we see smartphones with 7,500mAh batteries.
