PlayStation Portal is a Remote Player for Sony’s PlayStation 5 gaming console. The company has just announced this handheld in the Indian market. You can play PS5 games over Wi-Fi and get a console-like experience in a portable device with the PlayStation Portal.
As long as you have a Wi-Fi connection, you can play PS5 games anywhere with PS Remote Play. PS Portal requires a minimum of 5Mbps Internet speed, while Sony recommends 15Mbps for optimal gaming. Playing supported games on your PS5 console is limited, and PlayStation Plus Premium cloud streaming will not be supported. Additionally, you won’t be able to run any other games or media locally.
PS Portal is equipped with an 8-inch LCD display with 1080P resolution, 60Hz refresh rate, and the same controller layout as PS5 DualSense. There is a USB-C port, 3.5mm headphone jack, and top-mounted speakers on the handheld. Currently, the rest of the spec sheet is a secret.
The PS Portal does not support Bluetooth connectivity, only Wi-Fi and PlayStation Link. With Sony’s new proprietary wireless standard, you can switch between compatible devices and enjoy low-latency lossless audio.
PlayStation Portal Remote Player costs 18,990 INR (roughly 227 USD). From 3rd August 2024, it will be available for purchase. Sony Centers, Flipkart, Amazon, Vijay Sales, Reliance, Croma, BlinkIt, and other retailers sell this device.
