According to 9to5Google, Google is working on a new Google TV Streamer set-top box that moves away from compact dongles.

This set-top/table-top device has a slanted design with a pill-shaped base resembling a Pixel Tablet Charging Speaker Dock, and HDMI and power connections at the back. The unit is designed to be low-profile beneath the TV and may support Tap to Cast, as seen on the Pixel Tablet.

With the new remote, you’ll find a D-Pad with home and back buttons, a microphone icon for voice input, and a home key with a raised bump.

There is a mute button on the front, and the volume rocker is now on the front. In addition, there is a shortcut for YouTube, Netflix, power, and a “Magic” or star button.

According to the report, the new device will be called the Google TV Streamer, retaining the Google TV branding, but dropping the name Chromecast.

The Chromecast may continue to be sold with Google TV (HD), following the earlier change from Chromecast built-in to Google Cast.

On August 13, Google will unveil the Pixel 9 phones and the Pixel Watch 3.It is also possible that the TV Streamer will be introduced or announced at a later date.
