OnePlus Open 2 will not launch this year, as previous leaks suggest it will launch in 2025. There have been more apparent details provided by a long-time leaker.
OPPO and vivo are working on large foldable phones that could be launched in Q1 2025 with Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 processors, according to prolific tipster Digital Chat Station. The tipster also claimed that the devices currently have 6,000mAh batteries, which we previously heard about the rumoured OPPO Find N5.
OnePlus Open was the global name of last year’s OPPO Find N3. In other words, this new OPPO foldable (ostensibly the Find N5) may be the OnePlus Open 2 outside of China. The OnePlus foldable is also expected to launch in 2025, according to earlier leaks.
OnePlus Open 2 with a 6,000mAh battery would be a significant upgrade over the original model’s 4,805mAh battery, as well as larger than the OnePlus 12’s already large 5,400mAh battery. If you use the folding screen a lot rather than your smartphone display, this upgrade could be very useful.
Even so, an increased battery would be in line with OnePlus’s current strategy, as it recently unveiled its Glacier Battery. With silicon-based batteries, Huawei follows HONOR and several other brands in offering more capacity within the same physical size. With its 6,100mAh battery, the China-only OnePlus Ace 3 Pro was the first phone with this technology.
