Xiaomi has been busy launching new devices in 2024, including its first POCO tablet. However, no word has been released about a successor to the Smart Band 8 or Smart Band 8 Pro. According to a recent leak, a Smart Band 9 with a few iterative improvements might well be in the works.
It appears the Smart Band 9 won’t stray much from the design of the Smart Band 8, which itself resembles the Smart Band 7. With a 1.62-inch display, the device is expected to retain the familiar oval form factor.
Dimensions are rumoured to be 46.53 x 21.63 x 10.95 mm, slightly smaller than the Band 8. For a premium look, the leak suggests an aluminium alloy casing with a sandblasted finish.
Display brightness may improve noticeably. It is expected to have a refresh rate of 60Hz, but a peak brightness of 1200 nits, double that of the Smart Band 8.
A modest improvement is also expected in battery life. According to the leak, the battery capacity will be 233 mAh, which is 43 mAh more than the Band 8. With the always-on display enabled, the battery should last 9 days, and without it, 21 days.
Additionally, the Smart Band 9 boasts a 10% improvement in the accuracy of the heart rate and SpO2 sensors, as well as Bluetooth 5.4 connectivity.
