According to reports, Apple is planning some notable changes to the new Apple Watch and Apple Watch SE. Bloomberg’s PowerOn newsletter discussed these changes in the latest edition. With the upcoming Apple Watch Series 10, the wearable will celebrate its 10th anniversary.
Gurman says two Apple Watch Series 10 models, codenamed N217 and N218, are in development. Both versions of these devices will have a larger display, according to Apple. According to the report, the display size is “about as large as that of Apple Watch Ultra.”
Additionally, the Apple Watch Series 10 is said to be thinner while maintaining the same design as its predecessor. This year’s Apple Watch Ultra isn’t expected to get a major redesign, Gurman said. Both of these new smartwatches will, however, have new processors. There are currently no plans to offer full Apple Intelligence support, but it should “lay the groundwork for some AI enhancements down the road.”
The health features of Apple Watch set it apart from its competitors. Several awaited health features, such as blood pressure monitoring and sleep apnea, will be delayed in the Apple Watch Series 10.
Apple’s hypertension measurement technology is unreliable in testing, according to its newsletter. It is also a concern of the team that the new design is not functional. A delayed release may result from these issues.
The feature will only give an idea of whether your blood pressure is relatively high instead of showing an exact reading once it is released.
A person’s blood oxygen saturation is used to measure sleep apnea. Due to a legal dispute with Masimo, Apple is currently unable to do this. To avoid the delay, it must either win/settle the case by September or figure out a workaround.
Apple Watch SE:
The Apple Watch SE is reportedly being tested with a rigid plastic casing. The aluminium body will be replaced by a carbon fibre one. A major reason for the change is to reduce costs and lower prices.
Samsung Galaxy Watch FE retails for USD 199, compared to USD 299 for the current-gen Apple Watch SE. Other details about the next “SE” smartwatch are not provided in the report.
