This year, Apple is expected to launch the iPhone 16 series in September. It has already been rumoured that the series’ successor will be released shortly. With the iPhone 17 series, Apple will ditch the ‘Plus’ model for a ‘Slim’ model.

The iPhone 17 Slim features some ‘bold innovations’ when it comes to its appearance, according to a report. It is expected that the new model will be thinner and lighter than the current one. The chassis will be made of aluminium by Apple. There will be a horizontal camera island, similar to the Pixel 8 series. It is unclear whether Spatial Video will still function with a horizontal camera layout since Apple recently reverted to vertical camera placement.

Due to the company’s adoption of a more compact “metalens” for the Face ID sensor, the device will feature a narrower Dynamic Island on the front. Apple’s iPhone 17 Slim is said to have a similar design to its iPhone X.

There will be a 6.55-inch screen on the front of the ‘Slim’ model. The device will fill the gap between the non-Pro and Pro models. As a comparison, the iPhone 15 Plus has a display size of 6.7 inches. The iPhone 17 Slim will also support 120Hz high refresh rate. It is noteworthy that this will be the first non-Pro iPhone to support a high refresh rate. Apple’s iPhone 17 series could also feature 120Hz refresh rates.

As well as offering a higher refresh rate, the models will also be adaptive, which means the phone will adjust the refresh rate based on the content displayed.
