With iOS 18, you’ll be able to automatically record and transcribe live phone calls.

You can enable recording after answering a call or placing a call. It is made clear from the start that the call is being recorded, so there are no surprises. In addition to recording the call, the iPhone also provides a transcript.

Apple Intelligence can generate a summary of key points covered in the call, so you can review what was important at a glance.

There will be transcription services available in English (U.S., UK, Australia, Canada, India, Ireland, New Zealand, Singapore), Spanish (U.S., Mexico, Spain), French (France), German (Germany), Japanese (Japan), Mandarin Chinese (China mainland, Taiwan), Cantonese (China mainland, Hong Kong), and Portuguese (Brazil).

The Phone app also includes a search interface for call history, autofill for a number when typing, and seamless SIM card switching.

On iPhone 12 and later, Apple plans to bring audio recording and transcription features to the Notes app as well.
