Leaks and rumours surrounding the Google Pixel 8a have left nothing to the imagination. As the AI capabilities of the smartphone have now been revealed in a leaked official promo video, those comments don’t seem to be slowing down any time soon. The tip was shared by reliable tipster Steve Hemmerstoffer. At this year’s annual I/O Developer Conference, the upcoming offering is widely expected to debut on May 14.

Google Pixel 8a’s official promo video reveals all its features. A new feature called ‘Best Take’ will make group photos better. Users can choose their best face after clicking multiple pictures, eliminating any awkward expressions.

It goes without saying that the Pixel 8a will ship with the Circle to Search feature. Originally announced in January this year for the Galaxy S24 series, it soon appeared on the Pixel 8 and 7 series. Users can search for elements/items by simply circling them.

‘Live Translate’ is a feature that will translate voice calls and more in real-time, according to the promo video. A new camera-related feature called Audio Magic Eraser will be added to the smartphone. Using it, you can remove any unnecessary background noise from videos. Additionally, the leak confirms that the device will be available in black and blue colors.

Specs:

Google Tensor G3 is the processor that powers the Pixel 8a, as expected. Last fall, Google launched the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro with this processor. We wouldn’t expect anything faster than 30W from Google when it comes to fast charging.

Aside from its IP67 certification for water and dust resistance, the Pixel 8a will receive seven years of security updates. Google here specifies security updates, as opposed to just updates, as they did with the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro. Perhaps it’s not quite the same update policy as the flagship Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro.

Availability:

It is expected that the Google Pixel 8a will be available for purchase on May 16, which is just a few days after the Google I/O keynote. This is also reflected in the home screen on these renders. It usually refers to the announcement date or the launch date. Google I/O is May 14 and 15, so we expect the sale to take place then.
