Sony is rumored to drop the 4K display from the next Xperia 1 VI – this is due to the aspect ratio changing from 21:9 to 19.5:9 (which suggests that the vertical resolution will no longer be 3,840px). A new leak reveals the new dimensions of the phone as well.

According to reports, the Sony Xperia 1 VI will measure 162 x 74.4 x 8.45mm – that’s 3mm shorter and 3mm wider than the Xperia 1 V, which measures 165 x 71 x 8.3mm. In the renders from last time, Sony sticks to its traditional design with a top and bottom bezel, so stereo speakers and a front-facing camera don’t sacrifice vertical space.

The screen will measure 149.6 x 69.4mm. The diagonal is 6.49″ and the aspect ratio is 19.4:9. The display is losing a bit of space vertically (2mm) but is getting wider (by almost 5mm).

Sony is expected to unveil the Xperia 1 VI in May. It has been reported that the phone will have a 16GB RAM option, but the base will remain at 12GB. The leak also mentions the Xperia 5 VI and Xperia 10 VI, but there’s no indication whether these models will also be announced in May.
