In addition to their long lifespans, Apple devices are known for their extensive software compatibility. The software support for some devices will end with iOS 18. Some iPad models and iPhone models will not receive the next iOS upgrade.
There are a few hints about iOS 18 that MacRumors shared. Apple promised to support its devices for a long time, but some of the devices’ software support has ended. The iPhone XR was released in 2018 and is the oldest iPhone model to receive iOS 18. As a result, Apple has been providing software support for the iPhone for an astounding six years.
According to rumors, iPadOS 18 will no longer support the first-generation 10.5-inch iPad Pro and second-generation 12.9-inch iPad Pro, both of which used the A10X Fusion chip. It is also unlikely that the update will work on iPads from the sixth and seventh generations.

The new iOS 18 is expected to be unveiled at Apple’s WWDC event in June 2024. iPhones may receive RCS messaging with this update, as well as various AI features.
