According to Sam Altman, Indian startups are capable of replicating ChatGPT, as Reliance Jio is forging ahead in the tech industry with two major initiatives: Bharat GPT and a new TV operating system. Reliance Jio’s continuous innovation and collaboration with IIT-B was showcased during Techfest at the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay (IIT-B).
As a potential competitor to ChatGPT, Bharat GPT offers a large-scale language model tailored to India’s particular needs. A wide range of Jio’s products and services will be powered by artificial intelligence (AI). AI would not be confined to a single area within Jio but would be incorporated into all of the company’s products and services. Jio’s approach indicates a significant shift towards AI-driven solutions, emphasizing its strategy to be a forerunner in AI applications in multiple fields.
Jio is also developing its own television operating system along with Bharat GPT. Android TV OS currently dominates the competitive TV OS market, so this move is seen as a strategic move by the company. Jio’s TV OS will either be entirely proprietary or based on AOSP (Android Open Source Project). Jio’s ambitions extend beyond telecommunications and into consumer electronics, particularly in the rapidly evolving smart TV market.
There is no denying Ambani’s confidence in the potential of the Indian market and the growth of artificial intelligence. By 2030, he anticipates that India’s economy will reach USD 6 trillion and the country will become a major innovation hub.
Jio also prioritizes the development of customized 5G private networks and plans to offer a comprehensive 5G stack to enterprises of all sizes.
