AGM (Annual General Meeting) of Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) in July 2022 marked the first time JioGlass was showcased. It wasn’t until the Indian Mobile Congress (IMC) 2022 in October in New Delhi that people could try on the smart wearable device. These glasses were even tried on by Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the IMC’s inauguration.
JioGlass was also on display at this year’s IMC in New Delhi, which was held from October 27-29.By connecting your smartphone to a smart glass, you can view content from your smartphone on a 100-inch virtual screen.JioGlass has this feature as one of its highlights.Using simple controls, JioGlass can switch between AR (Augmented Reality) and VR (Virtual Reality).
JioGlass:
In 2019, RIL acquired India-based deep tech startup Tesseract, which developed JioGlass. With a USB Type-C cable, the XR glasses can screencast content on a 100-inch virtual screen from a smartphone, laptop, gaming console, or other gadget.
JioGlass supports 1080p content. Wearing the smart glass should be comfortable during long periods of content consumption, due to its lightweight design and sleek design.
With JioGlass, you can experience content in AR through a detachable flap. VR content can be consumed with the flap on. When computer-generated content is combined with the real world, it is called an AR experience. A user would see a digital avatar of a cartoon character, for instance, overlayed on his or her real world in real-time. Watching content in VR, however, makes users feel immersed in their surroundings.
With JioGlass, users can attend virtual meetings where 3D holographic images or 2D avatars of other participants are visible. To make multitasking easier, JioGlass supports the integration of up to three virtual screens into users’ workflows.
You can also enjoy immersive gaming by connecting a gaming console to a PC. On JioImmerse, users will be able to access a multitude of interactive content covering subjects such as Science, Mathematics, English, and more.
In addition, Jio has launched its JioImmerse XR Store, which it says has the largest collection of 3D content and apps in the country. With the XR apps, users can view movies and TV shows on a 100-inch virtual screen, as well as learn and play VR games, and access JioVerse, which has VR content curated by Jio.
