According to Max Jambor, OnePlus Open, the first foldable smartphone from the company, was set to be unveiled on August 29. Tipster now reports that plans have changed and the launch has been pushed back.
We don’t know the new date yet, but it should be revealed soon. The Open was originally intended to use BOE panels, but there was an issue with that, so now OnePlus is using Samsung panels instead.
According to Omdia researchers, the Oppo Find N2 uses two Samsung Display panels. Both the original Find N and new Find N2 Flip feature Samsung displays inside and BOE displays outside. Since some reports place the cover and internal displays at 6.3″ and 7.8″, respectively, the Open probably won’t be based on the Find N2.

The new OnePlus Open sports a massive 7.8 inches QHD+ aka 2K foldable punch-hole internal LTPO AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate. Further, there is a smaller 6.3 inches outer punch-hole AMOLED display with an 18:9 aspect ratio & resolution of 2120 × 1080p. Now, the outer display also supports a 120Hz refresh rate. There is Corning Gorilla Glass Victus on top for the internal display.
The OnePlus Open is powered by Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC coupled with 12GB/16GB RAM and 256GB/512GB UFS 3.1 internal storage.
There is a total of five cameras three on the back and two selfie cameras one outer other for internal display. The OnePlus Open features a 48MP main sensor coupled with a 48MP ultra-wide sensor and a 64MP telephoto sensor. There is a 32MP Sony IMX615 selfie shooter on the inner well & 20MP selfie shooter on the outer display. It comes with a side-mounted fingerprint scanner.
The OnePlus Open packs a 4800 mAh battery with 100W Super VOOC charge support & 15W wireless charging support. It also gets 10W reverse wireless charging support. The OnePlus Open runs on Android 13 with ColorOS 13.1 on top.
