On May 10, Google is expected to unveil a few new devices, including the highly anticipated Google Pixel 7a, at its I/O event. It will improve upon the popular Pixel 6a, which was a hit globally in the mid-range segment. A new report, however, claims this will be the last A series smartphone from Google, making this launch bittersweet.
According to Yogesh Brar, Google may soon release two candy bar flagship smartphones and one foldable device. The upcoming Pixel 7a will cost more and have advanced features such as a wireless charger and a 90Hz display, as well as the latest Tensor chip. According to reports, the Pixel 7a will cost CAD $702, while the Pixel 7 was priced at CAD $779.
It would be a missed opportunity for Google to not offer a mid-range smartphone option if the A-Series were discontinued. Since the Pixel 3a and Pixel 3a XL was introduced in 2019. Google has made changes to its A-Series offering every year. After the release of the Pixel 7a, which is expected later this month, another alteration to the Pixel A-Series is not surprising.
