Motorola is expected to launch the Edge 40 series of flagship phones soon. The Edge 40 and Edge 40 Pro specifications were revealed in a recent report. Several sources have also leaked renders of the Pro model, believed to be a rebranded Moto X40 from China. Globally, the Edge 40 will be a brand-new phone. Our first look at the Motorola Edge 40 comes from reputed tipster Steve Hemmerstoffer.

Design:

Motorola Edge 40 comes in four colors: Eclipse Black, Nebula Green, Lunar Blue, and Viva Magenta. In the leaked renders, the phone is shown in black and green. The backs of both models are covered in leather.

In terms of design, the Edge 40 is not too different from its Pro counterpart. An AMOLED panel covers the front of the vanilla model. On the back, a square-shaped camera island houses two cameras, along with LED flash units. The Edge 40 features an OIS-enabled 50-megapixel primary camera, confirmed by a closer look at its camera module. On the device’s back panel, Motorola’s batwing logo can also be seen.

The Edge 40 phone’s right side has volume buttons and a power button, while its left side is barren. It has a speaker grille, a microphone, a USB-C port, and a SIM card slot on its bottom side. The top edge of the Edge 40 is not shown in any of the leaked renders. The Edge 40 may also come with an acrylic back.

Specs:

The new Motorola Edge 40 will sport 6.55 inches FHD+ 10-bit pOLED curved display. It comes with a resolution of 1,080 x 2,400p with 10-bit colors & supports a 144Hz refresh rate. The device gets in-display fingerprint scanner support & comes with Corning Gorilla Glass Victus on top.

The device is powered by the new Dimensity 8020 SoC coupled with 8GB/12GB RAM and 128GB/256GB UFS 3.1 storage space.

 

The Motorola Edge 40 will feature a 50MP main 1/1.55″ sensor with OIS coupled with a 13MP ultra-wide with 120-degrees FoV. There is a 32MP selfie shooter under the punch-hole notch.

The connectivity options include an in-display fingerprint scanner, Dual 5G support, USB-C with DisplayPort 1.4 support, WiFi 6E, Bluetooth 5.3, NFC, and GPS. It arrives in four colors, Lunar Blue, Nebula Green, Eclipse Black, and Magenta.  This time the device also gets IP68 certified making it dust and water-resistant.

All this is packed with a 4400 mAh battery with 68W fast charge support. The device also supports 15W wireless & 15W reverse wireless charging. It runs on Android 13 OS out of the box.

There will be two types of materials on the phone – vegan leather and PMMA acrylic. The vegan leather variant weighs 171 grams and measures 158.43 x 71.99 x 7.58mm. As for the PMMA variant, it will have a thickness of 7.49mm and a weight of 167 grams.
