iOS 17 is expected to be announced later this year by Apple. WWDC 2023, which could be held in June, could unveil the new iOS update. Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman claims that some new features will be added to the upcoming iOS update. iOS 17 is likely to be more than just a bug-fix update, unlike most recent iOS updates, which have focused on stability and reliability.

Gurman suggests that the upcoming iOS update could be more significant than thought. As previously reported, Apple plans to focus more on stability and fix the underlying issues in iOS that hamper user experience. Apple has reportedly changed its strategy and will launch iOS 17 with a number of new features.
The initial plan was to call iOS 17 a tuneup release, one focused more on fixing bugs and improving performance than adding new features (similar to what Apple did with Snow Leopard on Mac OS X in 2009). With iOS 17, the hope was to avoid the problems encountered with iOS 16, which suffered from missed deadlines and buggy starts. Gurman wrote in his newsletter Power On that the strategy changed later in the development process.
Further, he stated that iOS 17 features will be “nice to have.” Some features requested by users will be included in iOS 17. Gurman didn’t specify any details about the features, but he said they would lack a “tentpole improvement like last year’s revamped lock screen.”
“Dawn” is meant to address several users’ most requested features, according to Gurman.
Apple’s rumored mixed-reality headset is said to be the focus of the upcoming iOS update. In addition to CarPlay and Siri, Apple might introduce a number of other updates. Additionally, some features might be confirmed at the iPhone 15 launch event. We won’t know until Apple chooses to preview the new update at WWDC 23 whether or not there will be a major UI overhaul.
