The Dimensity 7200 chipset is the latest addition to MediaTek’s chipset lineup. It features 5G support, game optimizations, and high battery efficiency and is built on TSMC’s 2nd Gen 4nm process.
With two performance cores and six efficiency cores, the octa-core CPU is based on the ARM Cortex-A715 processor. Among Geekbench results, the Dimensity 7200 is just ahead of Snapdragon 7 Gen1.
According to the company’s internal testing, the graphics unit scores 100-120 frames per second on the Manhattan GFX benchmark. Up to 144Hz refresh rate is supported on displays with a resolution of at least Full HD+.
The Dimensity 7200 features MediaTek’s Imagiq 765 and a 14-bit HDR-ISP that supports main cameras up to 200MP. Also, it supports dual video capture at 1080P resolution and 4K HDR video capture. Noise reduction is motion-compensated for low-light conditions.
With MediaTek’s AI Processing Unit (APU), the chipset enhances battery consumption and provides computational photography capabilities. MediaTek’s HyperEngine 5.0 uses AI-based Variable Rate Shading (VRS) for gaming on the Dimensity 7200.
Using 2CC Carrier Aggregation, the chipset supports sub-6GHz 5G and theoretical download speeds of 4.7Gbps. Dual 5G SIMs with dual VoNR are also supported. In addition to Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.3 is included. It supports RAM speeds of up to 6400Mbps and UFS 3.1 storage.
The Dimensity 7200 is expected to arrive in China sometime in Q1 2023.
