Last November, Qualcomm unveiled its latest flagship processor, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2. Featuring a new Adreno 740 GPU, this chipset takes efficiency and performance to new levels. The Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 is also in development, and its recent Geekbench listing suggests it will push the envelope even further. The next-generation SoC could arrive earlier than usual.
Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 is expected to be announced around the same time as Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 was last year — November. As per reputed tipster Digital Chat Station, the company may unveil its upcoming processor earlier than expected due to advances in development. Although the tipster did not provide a specific launch date, we can expect the SoC to debut sometime in October.
In addition, Mr. Chat Station says the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3-equipped devices will launch in the fourth quarter. Many flagship phones are expected to use the new processor late this year and early next year. It may include devices from Chinese manufacturers, such as Xiaomi, Oppo, and Vivo.
The chipset has not yet been officially launched, so its details are limited. According to Geekbench, the SoC scored 1,930 for a single core and 6,236 for a multicore. This represents a 25% increase in CPU performance over the current best Snapdragon 8 Gen 2. In the coming days, we should learn more about the upcoming Snapdragon 8 Gen 3.
