Xiaomi launched its 13 series earlier this month in China. However, the company’s flagship series is not over yet, since it also releases high-end Ultra models of its numbered series. A new leak has revealed some interesting details about the upcoming Xiaomi 13 Ultra.

A new and improved periscope camera will be featured on the rear of the Chinese tech giant’s new Ultra model, according to tipster Kartikey Singh. According to the tipster, Xiaomi’s new periscope camera on the 13 Ultra “will shock everyone.” This zoom lens is clearly intended to provide some impressive performance or features. Ultra models of smartphones are some of the company’s most premium phones and also feature some of its best photography capabilities.

As a result, this news isn’t exactly surprising. The Sony IMX989 sensor was featured in the 12s Ultra last year, which had a large 1-inch sensor size. Since Samsung had been unable to compete with anyone in long magnification zoom for the past two years, they have become lazy and relied on the same hardware for the past three generations. But next year might see things turn around and this monopoly will end.

This means that the new optical zoom module may offer improved quality and sharper images, as well as additional magnification. There may soon be a worthy competitor for Samsung’s telephoto cameras.
