Google’s products are generally subject to leaks, which led the company to pre-announce upcoming products in order to steal back some of the spotlights from leaksters in recent years. However, the leakers have decided to step up the game once again – let’s see how Google responds.
This leak reveals every smartphone the company plans to release from 2023 to 2025. It doesn’t get bigger than this when it comes to leaks, so let’s get started.
2023 launch
In April or May, the Pixel 7a (codename “lynx”) and the Pixel Fold (codename “felix”) will launch – which means they’re likely to be announced at Google I/O. The first foldable phone from Google will be called Pixel Fold instead of Pixel Notepad, as it has been previously referred to.
According to reports, the Pixel 7a will cost exactly the same as the Pixel 6a, $449. Wireless charging will be available on the upcoming model, as well as a 90 Hz refresh rate screen. While the Pixel Fold’s price has not been confirmed yet, a rumor claimed that it would cost $1,799.
In 2023, the Pixel 8 will be slightly smaller than the Pixel 7, while the 8 Pro will keep the same screen size as the 7 Pro. The new chipset, likely to be called Tensor G3, will power both of these devices. There won’t be many differences between the Pixel 8 and its predecessors.
2024 launch:
The Pixel 8a is scheduled for release in 2024, but it might be scrapped in favor of a biennial launch cadence, depending on how well the Pixel 7a does. It is expected that the Pixel 8a will cost $499, $50 more than its predecessor.
There will be three Pixel 9 models – the Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro (around 6.7″ screen), and a Pro-level model with a 6.3″ display and all the features of the bigger Pro. Google will emulate Apple with the new 6.3″ phone, and the 6.7″ will be its iPhone Pro. The Tensor G4 SoC will be featured in all three of these new handsets.
In 2024, there will also be a new foldable phone, but little is known about it. It has been speculated that Google is waiting to see how the Pixel Fold is received.
2025 launch:
It depends on how well (or how poorly) the company’s 2023 and 2024 strategies turn out for 2025. According to reports, Google is exploring the idea of a flip-style foldable, and if this becomes a reality, it will launch in fall 2025 along with three slab Pixels (there will still be three).
Alternatively, if the flip phone isn’t happening, we’ll see four non-folding Pixels – a vanilla model in small and large sizes, as well as a Pro model. It’s Apple all over again.
It is reported that all of this information comes from a reliable source and has been thoroughly vetted. Keeping that in mind, even if these are 100% Google’s plans at the moment, keep in mind that plans can change.
